EVENT - April 13: EXPANDING COLLEGE OPPORTUNITY @ Lake City High School

April 13, 2016 - 6:00pm - 7:30pm

Presentation & Book Signing

In an interactive, hands-on presentation, Author, Speaker, and Trainer, Stanley B. Lemons, talks with parents and students about the educational path from middle and high school to college. Mr. Lemons highlights critical steps for students to be successful in school and ultimately to earn their college degree.

The event is open to the public and will be at Lake City High School (6101 N. Ramsey Road in Coeur d'Alene)

A limited number of copies of the book and student workbook will be available for sale the night of the event, with scholarship opportunities for families who may need or want assistance covering the cost of the materials.

Computer Science Comes to North Idaho

February 24: The NIC Professional-Technical Open House

The NIC Professional-Technical Open House is an annual event that welcomes community members to learn about the Professional-Technical programs and short-term training programs offered through North Idaho College. College instructors will be on hand to provide information on programs and give tours of lab space. Student services professionals will be available to answer question about enrolling in Professional-Technical programs and financial aid assistance. Financial aid presentations will take place at 4:45 and 5:30. The Professional-Technical Education Open House will take place on Wednesday, February 24th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the Hedlund building. Parking on campus is free for this event. "The path to improving Idaho’s economic prospects goes through postsecondary campuses. The Legislature must help more students on their way.

On Monday, Lt. Gov. Brad Little urged education committee members to adopt a resolution calling for 60 percent of Idahoans between the ages of 25 and 34 to have a college degree or postsecondary certificate by 2020. The State Board of Education adopted that goal in 2010.

It might take a revolution, rather than a resolution, to get there. The current rate is about 40 percent."

College, Careers & Coffee - January Meeting

The College, Careers & Coffee group meets monthly on the FIRST TUESDAY at 8:00 a.m. at the Idaho Department of Labor, Post Falls Office at 600 N Thornton St.

The purpose of this group is to connect individuals who are interested in promoting college and career opportunities, options and resources.

2016-2017 FAFSA Application Available Now!

The 2016-2017 academic year lasts from July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017.

A FAFSA can be filed for the 2016-2017 academic year any time between January 1, 2016 and June 30, 2017.

NOTE: You do NOT need to have completed your 2015 Tax Return to begin the application process.

$25,000 Super Scholarship Raffle

 

The Post Falls Chamber of Commerce is holding a $25,000 Scholarship Raffle:

A few details:

  • No more than 1,000 tickets will be sold.
  • Odds of winning depend on the number of tickets sold.
  • Tickets are Fifty and No/100 Dollars ($50.00) each and there are no limits on how many tickets you can purchase, so long as there are tickets available.It is anticipated that tickets will sell out. 
  • The official drawing will be held by November 30, 2016 or sooner, if tickets are sold out by prior date.Number of tickets sold and drawing date and location will be advertised on the Post Falls Chamber website at: www.postfallschamber.com. The drawing will be held in Kootenai County, Idaho.
